What I Leaned Photographing Professional Sports

Working in professional sports was one of the most exciting environments I have worked in. Nothing quite compares to documenting professional sports, from the fans to special moments on the pitch.

  1. There Is Always a Story to Be Told: One of the great things about sports is there is always a story on the field and off. During our home games, I had the opportunity to photograph the game from the fan’s perspective. This allowed me to spend a lot of time at tailgates and marches and to meet some great people who lived their lives around the team they love.

2. Always Be Ready: “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” In sports, we worked in a high-paced environment with high emotions, but you were always looking for the moments in time and the people who could tell a story just from the emotions on their faces.

3. It’s All About the People: One of my favorite instagram profiles to follow is one called Because People Matter This profile shows the importance of people. He has spent most of his carreer docuemnting people, thorugh photography. His photos are able to tell amazing stories that show the humanity that runs through every person.

4. Take Inspiration from Others: One of the greatest things I learned was to take inspiration from other great creatives i had the great opportunity to work with a group of insanely talented creatives. they all produced great work but as I was able to meet other creatives from around the league I was able to see just how talented they are and how much I had to learn below are some insanely talented photographers.
